The way to profit: cutting cost

Business pains

Key issue: cutting costs. In automotive companies logistics operations are constantly under cost pressure.

Key challenge: how to (cost-)effectively manage and coordinate Inbound Planning with the complexity of multiple suppliers, transporters, items, packaging units and destinations.

Quyntess Performance Solutions:

Inbound Logistics Planning
Inbound planning is focused on low-cost, effective management of inbound flows, from the suppliers' pick-up location to delivery in cross docks or at the destination Plants. The frequency of these inbound flows is not fixed and user-defined like the input in some other applications. It can be calculated on the basis of optimal transportation and product mix variables.

Minimum total delivery cost
While most commercial software applications focus purely on freight costs for inbound planning, we take into account the total impact of transportation costs, inventory and delivery. Our solution also goes beyond other applications by planning right down to the dock delivery level: from supplier pick-up through delivery to the inventory of each individual part.

Considering physical limitations
At the same time, the system also considers physical limitations, like storage capacity, safety stock, loading/unloading rates and capacities, dock schedules, container sizes and packaging information.

Streamline Inbound Operations
You may be losing profit by not streamlining your inbound operations. The solution we deliver allows companies to coordinate all inbound activities - purchasing, transportation and inventory - on the basis of the expected consumption of products. We analyze the cost of inventory carrying, transportation, handling, delivery and closed-loop container programs to help prevent large buildups of inventory. We do this by not only taking into account the cost of total inbound logistics, but also a number of operational process drivers and limitations. Our system analyzes all combinations of inbound material flows with the purpose of maximizing transport synergy and reducing costs, while respecting existing limitations.

Event Management
Because the inbound material supply chain and the outbound vehicles (VIN) supply chain are so volatile, a high degree of transparency and visibility is needed to ensure that the order fulfillment process is performed effectively. This also applies to the complex spare parts supply chain.

The value of goods per unit in outbound flows is usually high; the product mix and volume of inbound flows are also high; and the risk of getting the wrong material in the wrong place is high. There's a new problem behind every corner and you never know when and how the links in your supply chain might break.

Using Viewlocity's CTP application suite, we deliver supply chain-wide track & trace, but also, and more specifically, exception management and exception resolution. These solutions can help you manage by exception all the relevant events in your supply chain. Rather than telling the stakeholders in your supply chain to go and look for events themselves, you'll be able to clearly present them.
